Blown Seriously Pro F3 Deluxe?

So this weekend I decided to upgrade my clone version SP F3. It was struggling to take the firmware so i read up a bit about it and a couple of guys suggested that you bridge the boot pins and then flash it. I did this (have since removed the bridge) but instead of taking the software, now no lights come up at all. The state its in seems to be as follows:

- USB is recognized when it is plugged in.
- No LED';s come up or flash.
- Cant connect to the board
- Cant flash firmware as I get a bootloader not recognized error.
- I have noticed that one of the 5 pin regulators gets VERY toasty when the USB is plugged in (the one labelled L3LX in this pic http://seriouslypro.com/img/photos/pcb/pcb-bottom.jpg)

I cant find any schematics for the board, I did think it was open source, but now I';m thinking it may be a closed source board?
I still need to run my multimeter on the board to check a few voltages, but just wondering if anyone has experienced any similar issues?

That sounds like it';s toast.  It seems to happen a lot with the clone boards.

The SPRF3 is indeed proprietary and closed source.  That means all the clones are counterfeits.  If you lodge a complaint with PayPal you should be able to get your money back.

I';m with QF, that board is toast just try and get your cash back.

I';ve read a few posts this year about the clone SPR F3 boards having issues. Best spend the extra and get a properly make one it would seem..

Hope you get a refund bud

I have sent the company an email so will wait and see what they say... I did get it on sale for £21 so I';m not entirely phased. Its may still be salvageable but will have to do some probing this eve...

JeremyE

The chip is only £6 here in the UK so I may try my hand at replacing the chip... The regs are not sitting at 3.3V so somethings definitely popped. My guess would be the main chip.

it just makes sense

I have a blown SPF3. In my case it was my fault - i shorted 5 volts to signal by accident.

I am currently trying to work out if the hobbyking spf3 clone is authorised or not;

One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

Im not convinced its authorised. I got mine at RC Mart because the shipping worked out cheaper than HK international. The seriously dodo looks quite good and runs straight off battery power. It';s also a decent price here in the UK.

I';d say not as they don';t say it';s a Seriously Pro, just an ';F3';.
