Now THAT is a really good idea for full size single person flight.  It gets around the problems of slow combustion engine response plus having to have 4 heavy engines.  Producing 100kg of thrust is relatively simple with a single engine and prop,  then a tail rotor for the torque and the 4 small props for control.

I like it.  I';d love to see someone make one full size.

My eyes and brain are having a difficult time adjusting to the Hybrid Pentacopter.  Its like the eyes are seeing the video but the brain is saying ... "Nah, you';re imagining this"

what would really be the dog';s would be for the ICE to be driving a generator sufficient to power the electric motors.  The rack of LiPo is the fail spoon in that design.
