Mobius recording dramas :(

Hi,

I just received my new mobius on saturday but after trying 3 different sd cards i cant seem to get it to save anything to the card.

Ive updated the firmware to the newest, ive swapped out sd cards,ive done a full reset (several times) .

When i try and record in mode 1 i get a flashing light which im pretty sure is correct, the same with mode 2 but when i stop recording and plug into my computer the sdcard is completely empty.

One thing ive noticed is when i try to take a picture the red light flashes once but then any further attempts to the light stays solid. the result is the same though, Still nothing on sdcard.

Any tips on what i migth be doing wrong or am i just as lucky as usual and received a faulty model.

What memory cards are you using? Have you tried formatting them?

Are they locked?

Ive tried a kingston and 2 that im not sure what they are. They arent locked, these are micro sd and cant be locked as far as im aware.

Ive also formatted them using both the mobius software and windows, made no difference either way.

For sure they can but im not using one, im just plugging the mobius straight into my pc.

You are pressing the shutter button when ending the recording, right? Hitting the power button wont save the last clip. Also, if you have a shorter USB cable? I had no end of trouble with a several long cables, the only one I could get working properly is a tiny Samsung one.

Dodgy SD cards are very common, I have several cheap from eBay which are virtually all useless. Recommend you get a known branded one ... recommend the Samsung Class 10 cards with 24 Mb speed for HD recording. Get them from a known retailer like Maplin.. I now have Samsung SDs in my Mobius, Hubsan etc as nothing else works...

Kingston do work in them, thats what im using in mine and also a Sandisk works, even a cheapo from years ago works in it.

Any of the big brands should work.  Beware of buying cheap deals as they are often counterfeit, e.g. report 32GB to the system, but only 2GB are accessible.  Been there, got the t-shirt. 

In addition to the other suggestions, have you tried formatting the card using the camera?  Get the Mobius config utility from here.  Run it (no installer) and click on Tools.  In there is the option to format in-camera.

  Im a bit of a veteran myself when it comes to dodgy sd cards but i tested each of the cards i had and all seem ok, Today i bought another one from pc world so its definitely genuine it still doesn';t work though.

So far ive tried 2 unbranded, a kingston and now a pny so its safe to assume its not the sd card. Im guessing this thing is dead:(

You could do a final test of formatting the card on the mobius and then checking it on your PC to see if it even managed to format the card.

Yo do realise that im my earlier post I had forgotten that the Mobius accepted the micro SD card without an adaptor, which is embarrassing as I do own a Mobius

Haha, no worries. Yeah it has formatted the card with the mobius because it renames it to "mobius" . Its weird everything seems to work as it should (except the photo mode, im not sure if that should freeze?) all the lights flash correctly and when i connect it to skype the webcam works.

It came from china so hopefully its not a drawn out affair to swap it, I cant see him sending a new one till this is returned so its probably going to be a few weeks/months before i can get it on my quad
