New GoPro Hero 4

I got the Gopro Hero 4 Silver , so  I wanted to see how i would  look against Hero 3 Black Edition

Seen a few comparisons now, and even seeing yours, I much prefer the Silver';s video over the BE.

Damn ... just when you think you have made the right choice ..... I  am planning on getting the Hero 4 BE, after seeing those vids I';d have to ask are they the same resolution setting and are you sure they are labelled the right way around

After seeing both on the same settings, most of the BE ones look a little washed out.

Difficult to tell as they have different colour profiles.  For a proper comparison both need to be graded to exactly the same profile.  Ideally use protune neutral on both.  Ignoring colour they look similar.  Internally I';d imagine the silver is using the same ambarella a7s chip as the old 3 black.  The new 4 black uses the a9 full 4k30 chip AFAIK.

Nice comparison, but surely the 4 black is the one to buy, if funds permit?  I wouldn';t want processor power wasted on a screen on the back, which would be superfluous to my requirements.

not watched the vid but isn';t it comparing the hero 3 black edition to the hero 4 silver, so not really a comparision, i would expect the 4 silver to be better or at the least on par with the 3 black

well... i';ve seen    the   hero 4 silver vs   hero 4 BE  comparison....  the  video  quality  looks  almost  identical. The  only thing  is  that   the  BE   got  4K  @30FPS.. and  1080 @ 120fps   
If  you  dont  need  any of  those, then....
This   was  the  reason  I  got the   HERO 4Silver.Screen is more  useful  fot   me, than  4K

Maybe.. its just me.. but I don';t see enough in the GP4 to make me want to upgrade my GP3 Black at the moment.. I know it has higher 4 k frame rates.. but the lens is still the downside..

I run 1080p Protune.. on Med FOV..  ..  I have GH4 for 4K.. but even on that don';t record at 4K that much.. much prefer the higher bit rates

For most FPVers prob better to save your money and but a discounted 3 or 3+ Black.. ..

Yeh early reviews have said the bitrate for 4k is not really high enough.
