setting up an f550

I was recently given an f550 by a friend who was emigrating. He gave me few tips but basically I have been trying to learn how to fly the drone by reading all that is available on the web. I have got to the point that I';m able to fly and more importantly able to land! But once in the air the aircraft lists to one side (left) and slowly rotates anticlockwise. Does this sound like set up voltages or something worse?

Hi, at least it';s airborne, which is a good start!
You could post all of the hardware details, various folk on here have experience with different flight controllers and other hardware, esc';s motors etc.  It all makes a difference, even tho they all really end up doing the same job, but in slightly different ways.  Does it have GPS or is it a more simple FC like KK2?

The ';listing'; could be caused by the FC not being calibrated for instance, on a level surface.  But without more info, it';s all just guesswork.

Questions, questions!

What flight controller are you using? Sounds as a calibration problem...

Thanks for the replies. I connected the drone to dji assistant software and calibrated the imu the gains are all ';INH'; basic gain pitch, roll, yaw and vertical all set to 100% attitude set to 200% mixer is set to hexa-rotor v. I didn';t calibrate the compass... (school boy error)

Ok I hope I list this correctly.....

Looks pretty standard.  The attitude gains sound a tad high tho.  I use default gains on all mine, or maybe 10-20% higher if you want a different or quicker response.  If you overdo the A gains, it';s like hitting a brick wall if you take your hands off the sticks, or maybe you like that?!

If you are still having issues, check any/all the following items,

Centre of gravity, (battery location) often overlooked.
Mounting of GPS and FC - see Naza V2 assistant for guidance GPS mast height is a minus value
Place GPS mast in centre and set position as 0 and 0 if centre of gravity is centre of craft.

Do advance calibration as per instruction in assistant.

Ensure FC is NOT mounted on Velcro but use 3m tape.

Calibrate radio in assistant.

Set pitch and roll basic and attitude gains the same around 130 to start, yaw to 120 and vertical 140.

If still drifting /rotating try disconnecting the GPS if cured it is related to GPS position function.

Contrary to popular belief gains set too high can make it uncontrollable especially with the v2 as it will try to flip on take off.

Re post if not solved. good luck, Naza v2 is a excellent FC so once sorted you should have a stable controllable hex.

Thanks for all the advice.. I am a complete novice as you can all tell but I will attempt to carry out the changes. Since my original post I have discovered that the drone also at some point had a gimble and go pro fitted so that may be whats throwing it out. I';ll let you all know how I get on.    Cheers
