Updated version of my guide.

Have had a tidy up, added an index and page numbers and some extra hardware options, LED Status, JD-IO board option.. Some typo fixes etc

Only thing I havent managed to check and test is the buzzer section.. so for info only at this time. will update it if it doesent work when I get round to checking it.

As ever if you find any errors let me know.. or if you want anything added..

It should cover all the basics and more.. and get anyone new to the Crius and MegaPirateNG started.

Again thanks to everyone  who provided input and help.

Enjoy..

Very Well Done and thank you for jumping in on the Chat a few days ago I took your advice and when I switched the throttle position with the other three channels they worked fine so I  decided the HK AIO clone Board is defective and Ordered two new Crius AIOP V2.0 from RCTIMER and when they get here I';ll give it another go do you have any information on the arming and disarming and any other Transmitter stick sequences that apply to this board thanks again

Hello,
I have two questions.
1st. I saw on the tutorial of the v2.0 that MegapirateNG 8.3r+ support telemetry with frsky receiver. If i make the small circuit, I can see the data on the display DHT-U. Does is also work on CRIUS v1.1?
2nd. On the Apm 2.5 and arducopter,  I am using LED_MODE and I Have external LEDS for Arming, GPS and Battery alarm. Can I do the same with MegapirateNG and CRIUS AIO 1.1. ? Any tutorial for this? (Do I need software modifications?)

Thanks in advance to everyone!

1. Yes Temeletry works same way on the V1.0/V1.1 on MPNG 2.8+

2. I havent tried external LED';s on the Crius, in theory should work the same, but unsure what code changes are required.

Hello,
thanks to willumpie82. I can report that Copter led working great in MegaPirateNG 2.9 R6 - R7.
Now we can have external leds or LED Strips for arming- disarming , or gps fix, with just a use of ULN2803.

if anyone interested they can look here:

Hello I just make the diagrams that';s I all ready test and they are working great!!! :)
I will a connection of the crius/ gps /leds on the bunch with out the frame, and I will make a video to be easier to view and understand.
here is the changes on the config.h.

#define COPTER_LEDS ENABLED

#elif CONFIG_APM_HARDWARE == APM_HARDWARE_PIRATES
#define COPTER_LED_1 A2         // Motor or Aux LED
#define COPTER_LED_2 A3         // Motor LED
#define COPTER_LED_3 A4         // Motor or GPS LED
#define COPTER_LED_4 A5         // Motor LED
#define COPTER_LED_5 NOT_A_PIN          // Pin not available on Pirate boards
#define COPTER_LED_6 NOT_A_PIN          // Pin not available on Pirate boards
#define COPTER_LED_7 NOT_A_PIN          // Pin not available on Pirate boards
#define COPTER_LED_8 NOT_A_PIN          // Pin not available on Pirate boards
#endif

also in mission Planner on the parameter list you have to enable Copter LED Mode.
Just put LED_MODE=127 is you want to enable everything.

Will update soon

I have update the diagram, and I add a piezo buzzer. So when arming the Red LED';s (Motor) get Solid, and you here a beep from the buzzer, When disarming the Red LED';s are blinking and you have a different sound. When you have GPS Lock (3d fix) the Green Led';s get solid, when the GPS is not fixed the Green Led';s are blinking.
:) A combination from NAZA (the leds) and KK2.0 for the buzzer :)
So to enable the buzzer you need to change the piezo pin on the define.h.
I select the Pin 32 for Crius v1.1.
Please look the New Diagram, and the changes on the code.

There are nice led Strips from Hobbyking that they are working from 6v-24v and they are very bright. You can use them with 2s, 3s, 4s battery without a resistor.

Also I made demo connection out for the frame to be easy to understand.
Also a small video for my friend Gaza. :)

If Jumpy likes the diagram he add them to his tutorial if he likes them and he think that is helpful for others. :)

Hi I connect the Frsky RX D8R-II Plus, as on the tutorial of the Crius v2.0. And the telemetry also works now and on DHT-U. !!!  :notworthy:

Hi Guys, I am using the megapirates pre compiled version from here, but when I go to the Ardiuno folder for the ArduCopter.pde file all I can see is the ArduCopter.inf file? any ideas
Cheers

Ive just downloaded the MegaPirateNG_2.8_R3_AIOP.zip file from the forum and the archive is fine no files missing, what are you using to unarchive the file I would recommend 7zip from here MegaPirateNG_2.8_R3_AIOP  ~~

What version of the arduino app are you using you should be using v1.04  ~~

I';m really struggling to get the led mod to work. I';ve got it all wired up correctly, changed the code, and added the change to mission planner. All that happens for me is the leds all flash at the same time, one is dim flashing, the other normall brightness. When its armed they sometimes stay lit or flash faster. It not flashing in time with GPS just motor arming I think. I should have taken a video, but went in a huff after all last night and a bit of this morning didn';t get the results show on here.
Any help would be great!

John

Phil1970

Same problem as John, wired correctly but no sync in gps/arming/disarming.

I think it';s because we have a aiop V2 board.
On the v2, pin 32 is not actually a pin, but a solder (tiny)pad.
I saw a post on another forum where that pin/pad "32" was adressed as "42" in the mpng code.

I';ll post my findings when I get the leds and the buzzer working on the V2.

johnmc

I';m using the aiop v1 board. I had a look at the schematics of the new rctimer extend board, and they use the last three outputs on the A pins, A5 to A7. Using those, I managed to get GPS, arm/disarm leds working, and a third led strip did some random, irregular flash? Don';t know what the last one is.I thought I was a arm disarm thing, but it just flashed anytime.

Cheers, John.
